Using Procreate, Santos digitally paints imaginary yet historically loaded language related to the Hawaiian Renaissance. She mimics colors and blurred edges from the original record to suggest actualized protest events in the 40s, challenging the ubiquity of American patriotism under martial law and displays of Filipino immigrants as cooperative proxies.

Santos reproduces 41 halftone postcards from the early 1900s, searchable under "postcards". She alters them by enlarging the halftone pattern to complicate the onset of the American colonial media project through curio postcard companies. While it purposefully fails the exoticizing gaze, the names of the companies and written messages are left legible for further examination.  
All 41 inkjet prints are printed to scale at 6 in x 4 in on card stock paper.

While taking Screen Print at the University of California, Berkeley Art Practice program, Santos works on screen print prototypes using postcard images from the archive. The final screen print wall installation is an unsettling rendition of the travel destination trope, Waikiki Beach.
