Archival Densities
"Archival Densities" is an installation series of recreated photographic and print media from a recent digitalization project of historical state records - the Digital Archives of Hawai’i. As it operates in beta mode(a feature-complete published website with known or unknown bugs), works in this installation attempt to repair the “bugs” or rather US colonial fallacies embedded in media throughout the first half of the 20th century. Authenticating these repairs through imagined civil resistance, failed travel destination American postcards, ephemera from the Hawaiian Renaissance in the 70s, and observed archival cataloging standards are to actualize the denial of docile narratives in state archives. This installation debuted at the Worth Ryder Gallery for the Spring 2024 Honors Exhibition.
